Summer tradition
The Fishing Derby.
Every August, families head to Memorial Park before the sun is high for the Village Fishing Derby — rods in hand, lines in the water, and a stocked pond full of bass and bluegill.

The Fishing Derby is a Gilberts summer tradition at Memorial Park. It's an easy, free morning out — kids and grown-ups cast off the bank of the park's stocked pond and see who reels in the day's best catch.
All four park ponds are stocked twice a year with bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish, so the fish are biting. Bring your own rod and a bucket; the rest takes care of itself.
The date and start time are posted on the Village calendar each summer. Sign up for alerts so you don't miss it.
