Community Development guides how Gilberts grows. The department issues building permits, reviews plans, answers zoning questions, and enforces property codes so the Village stays safe and looks its best. The office is at Village Hall.

What we do
- Issue building, contractor, and business permits and schedule inspections.
- Review site plans and drawings for new construction and remodels.
- Answer zoning questions and process variances and special-use requests.
- Enforce property-maintenance and nuisance codes (tall grass, junk, signs).
- Register contractors and confirm they carry current insurance.
- Support long-range planning and the Village's comprehensive plan.
