Welcome to Gilberts. Here's a simple checklist to get settled — water and trash, voter registration, alerts, and where to find what you need.
Your move-in checklist
- Set up utility service (water, sewer, garbage) through Village Hall before move-in day.
- Confirm your garbage and recycling collection day and pick up carts if needed.
- Register to vote and check your polling place with the Kane County Clerk.
- Sign up for Village alerts — weather warnings, billing reminders, and meeting notices.
- Save the key numbers: Village Hall 847-428-2861, Police non-emergency 847-428-2131, Emergency 911.
Getting to know the Village
- Explore the four parks and the trails along the ponds.
- Find Board meeting dates and agendas under Government.
- Browse permits before you start that first project.
- Follow the Village on Facebook and Instagram for day-to-day news.
Renting? Most of this still applies — utility setup and alerts keep you in the loop even if your landlord handles the lease side.
