Garbage & recycling
Curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste are collected weekly by the Village's contracted hauler. Here's how to set out your carts and what goes where.
Collection basics
- Set carts out by 6:00 AM on your collection day, wheels to the curb.
- Recycling is single-stream — paper, cardboard, metal, glass, and plastics #1–#5 in one cart.
- Yard waste is collected seasonally; bag it in paper yard-waste bags or use a marked container.
- Bulk items and appliances can be scheduled for special pickup.
Recycle right
A few wrong items can spoil a whole load. Keep these OUT of the recycling cart: plastic bags and film, foam, food-soiled paper, and tanglers like hoses and cords. When in doubt, throw it out or check the Green Guide.
Household hazardous waste & electronics
Paint, chemicals, batteries, and electronics don't belong in the trash. The Kane County Green Guide lists current drop-off locations and dates for safe disposal.
