Comprehensive plan
The Comprehensive Plan is the Village's long-range guide for how Gilberts grows — where homes, shops, parks, and roads should go over the next 10 to 20 years. It's the vision behind our motto, "Growing with Vision."
What the plan covers
The plan looks ahead so growth happens on purpose, not by accident. It maps out:
- Land use — where housing, business, and open space belong
- Roads and transportation — keeping traffic safe as the Village grows
- Parks, trails, and natural areas to protect
- Downtown and Town Center development
- Utilities and infrastructure to support new neighborhoods
How it's used
The Board and the Planning & Zoning Commission use the plan as a yardstick. When someone asks to build or rezone, staff check the request against the plan to see if it fits the Village's long-term vision. The plan is reviewed and updated over time as Gilberts changes.
The plan is a guide, not a final answer. Big changes still go through public hearings, so residents always get a say before anything is built.
